Yemen Takes Its Turn, Ending Its Diplomatic Relationship to Qatar

After some Arabian Gulf countries broke diplomatic relations with Qatar, now Yemen takes its turn.


Yemen adds to the list of countries that break the diplomatic relations with Qatar after Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates doing the same thing.

The end of this diplomatic relation is due to the Government of Yemen.s accusation toward Qatar’s close relationship to Houthi militant group.

Yemen has a dark history with Houthi militant. The Group had made some number of riots in Yemen. Its goal was to capture Sanaa, the capital city of Yemen, early 2015. That forced the President of Yemen, Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi, exiled to Saudi Arabia.

Houthi militant managed to break into the capital city of Sanaa in early 2014 and strengthened his influence in the following months.

Houthi that comes from the minority communities of Zaidi Shia, making a rebellion since 2004 to fight for greater autonomy in the province of Saada, the North of Yemen.

Quoted from The Malaysian Insight Mon (5/6/2017), a coalition of Saudi Arabia said that Qatar is no longer joining in the fight againts Houthi in Yemen. Qatar is accused to reinforce terrorism and terrorist organizations such as Al Qaeda and Daesh or ISIS.

Through its official statement, Yemen has done similar actions to disconnect from the diplomatic relationship with Qatar.

The Reason Behind the Disconnection of the Diplomatic Relations with Qatar

In addition to Yemen, other countries are also breaking diplomatic relations with a few different reasons.

Saudi Arabia cut off the relationship for national security and protection from the dangers of terrorism and extremism. The oil-rich countries that also urged the whole country and economy, as any companies in the country, to take similar steps.

Unlike Bahrain, the country stated the termination of diplomatic relations is because the media in Qatar supports the activities and funding of the armed terrorists.

The goal, allegedly to conduct sabotage and spread turmoil in Bahrain.

Egypt undertook to announce the closure of air and sea ports for all transportation that depart and arrive from Qatar. Cairo said this action as the protection to national interests.

That land of the Pyramids were also accused Qatar for supporting terrorist organizations including the Muslim Brotherhood.

Qatar has indeed been gotten a long criticism from neighbouring countries for the support to numbers of terrorist groups. One of them is the Muslim Brotherhood, a Sunni Islamist political groups whose existence was banned by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

Trump Allowed Military To Set Up The Number of Troops in Afghanistan

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has given the Secretary of Defense, Jim Mattis, an authority to to set troops deployed in Afghanistan.
