The Aviation Agency of Saudi Arabia said that the decision to shut the all flights from Qatar was implemented in order to protect the citizens from any threat.
This step is done following the diplomatic crisis between Qatar and the Persian Gulf, which blamed Doha, pointing any threat that can be caused due to Qatar's support to terrorism.
Not only Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain are also doing similar things.
Reported by Reuters on Tuesday (13/6), that statement was told by Saudi as a reaction to the statement from the head of Qatar Airways, Akbar Al Baker, who considered the action of withdrawing the flight permission and closing access for Qatar flight is violating the international law.
Al Baker has even appealed to International Civil Aviation Organization that is under the United Nations over the action that he considered as an illegal act.
Responding to the complaint, Al Baker, UAE Aviation Authority said they are still fully committed to the Chicago Convention that guarantees international civil aviation.
However, the UAE said, his country is still sovereign and has the right to take any prevention to protect its national security if needed.
Even so, reported by Al Jazeera, Abu Dhabi said, the closing does not apply to private airlines.
The private airline or charter flights flying from Qatar were still allowed to land or pass through a third country, by applying permitsat least 24 hours before the flight.
