How Donald Trump Took Huge Win in New York Primary Polls

Donald Trump dominated the vote Tuesday among groups where he has been strong in previous contests while staying very competitive even among voters that have given him trouble in the past, according to the NBC News Exit Poll. NBC News projected Trump the winner shortly after polls closed at 9 p.m. ET.

White voters without a college education — who accounted for nearly half of the New York GOP electorate —were at the heart of Trump's win. About two-thirds of these voters (64 percent) went for Trump, splitting the rest of their support between rivals Ted Cruz and John Kasich. But Trump prevailed easily among college-educated whites, too: He won a majority of their votes (53 percent), followed by Kasich and then Cruz.

Trump, who has staked out very conservative ground with positions on immigration, terrorism and other hot-button issues, enjoyed a landslide win among New Yorkers identifying as "very" or "somewhat" conservative. Almost two-thirds (64 percent) of these voters chose Trump; leaving Cruz and Kasich far behind. But even among the moderate and liberal New Yorkers voting in the GOP primary, Trump held his own. He garnered support from 41 percent of these voters, pulling essentially even with Kasich, who led this group with 42 percent.

Nigerian army Claims the Second Rescue of Chibok Girl

A second schoolgirl that was seized in the Nigerian town of Chibok has been found, the army says. But a spokesman for the Chibok girls' parents has cast doubt on the claims, saying that the girl's name is not on the families' list of those missing. An army spokesman said Serah Luka was among a group of 97 women and children rescued by troops in the north-east. Islamist militant group Boko Haram has abducted thousands of other girls in recent years, rights groups estimate. This comes two days after the rescue of the first Chibok girl, Amina Ali Nkeki. The army has previously given misleading statements about the rescue of the Chibok girls - in its initial statement after Ms Nkeki was found, it used a wrong name. In all, 218 girls remain missing after their abduction by the Boko Haram Islamist group from Chibok secondary school in north-eastern Nigeria in 2014.
