Sanders' Second Large Seattle Rally Before Caucuses

Thousands of people gathered into a Seattle sports stadium Friday as Bernie Sanders speak at the presidential candidate’s second large rally here in less than a week as he tries to energize voters before Washington’s Democratic caucuses. In this March 20, 2016 file photo, supporters of Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., cheer at a campaign rally by Sanders in Seattle. Sanders’ brand of democratic socialism may take some explaining in some parts of the United States, but not in Seattle. This city elected a socialist to the City Council in 2013 and was among the first to phase in a $15 an hour minimum wage, mandate sick leave for most companies and offer paid parental leave for city workers - issues that mirror Sanders’ platform. The Pentagon : A Top ISIS Leader Is Killed in an Airstrike,

A top Islamic State commander was killed this week in eastern Syria through American Special Operations forces, Pentagon officials said Friday, part of a monthslong campaign the Obama administration boasts is eviscerating the Islamic State even as the group continues to demonstrate the power to sow violence in Western Europe. An undated photograph released by the United States State Department of Abd al-Rahman Mustafa al-Qaduli, an Islamic State leader. The American forces originally hoped to capture the commander, Abd al-Rahman Mustafa al-Qaduli, and were following his vehicle in at least two helicopters, according to a senior military official who requested anonymity. But their plan to land Special Operations fighters, seize Mr. Qaduli and return him to the helicopter changed for unknown reasons, and they fired on the vehicle instead, killing him. Defense Secretary Ashton B. Carter announced Mr. Qaduli’s death, describing him as the group’s top financier, but he offe...

Cruz Denies Tabloid’s Accusation on Adultery Allegations

Ted Cruz on Friday strongly denied a story in the National Enquirer. The tabloid accused him of extramarital affairs and blamed rival Donald Trump for planting “complete and utter lies”. Cruz accused Trump and his associates of hawking a false story that the married Texas senator had sexual relationships with five unidentified women. The allegations come amid a nasty feud between the two candidates over their wives that has dominated the Republican presidential race this week. “Let me be clear, this National Enquirer story is garbage,” Cruz told reporters after a rally at a parking-cone factory here, bringing up the subject himself. “It is complete and utter lies. It is a tabloid smear, and it is a smear that has come from Donald Trump and his henchmen.” Trump, in a statement, said he had “no idea” whether the story was true and said he had nothing to do with it. “Ted Cruz’s problem with the National Enquirer is his and his alone, and while they were right about O....

A Source Said Brussels Airport Suicide Bombers Were Brothers

The suicide bombers behind the Brussels Airport attack early Wednesday were identified as two brothers by police sources as the search for an on-the-run suspect intensified. Khalid El Bakraoui, 27, and 30-year-old sibling Ibrahim blew themselves up in a departures hall on Tuesday morning. Both had been convicted of violent crimes in the past and had links to one of the Paris attackers. ISIS claimed responsibility for the trio of bombings at the airport and in the city's subway on Tuesday, which killed more than 30 people and injured at least 260 others. In 2010, Ibrahim El Bakraoui was sentenced to 9 years in prison for shooting at police with an assault rifle during a robbery. Khalid El Bakraoui was arrested for possession of Kalashnikovs in 2011 and had been sentenced to 5 years in prison for "carjackings." He had lived at an apartment in the Forest neighborhood which was the scene of a deadly shootout with police on March 15 during a raid linked to...

Clinton and Trump Win Arizona

The Associated Press said that Hillary Clinton and Donald J. Trump crushed their rivals in the Arizona primaries on Tuesday. The show overwhelmed from two presidential front-runners who are hoping to avoid prolonging the nominating contest and begin training their fire on each other. But Senator Bernie Sanders thrashed Mrs. Clinton in the Idaho and Utah Democratic caucuses, demonstrating his enduring appeal among liberal activists even as she closes in on the party’s nomination. And Senator Ted Cruz, who won the Republican contest in Utah, captured more than 50 percent of the vote, giving him all 40 of the state’s delegates and sustaining hope among Mr. Trump’s opponents that he can be slowed, if not stopped. Mrs. Clinton’s commanding victory in Arizona, where 75 Democratic delegates were at stake, gave her the night’s biggest prize, and her margin there was substantial enough that Mr. Sanders was unlikely to emerge with significantly more delegates, though he took two state...

ISIS Claims Responsibility for Brussels Attacks

A series of explosions killed at least 31 and injuring at least 250 in Brussels Tuesday, including nine Americans in devastating terror attacks for which ISIS took credit. The explosions, which drew condemnation from world leaders and sparked a cry for solidarity with the Belgian people, took place in Brussels Airport and a subway station near the European Union offices, leaving behind carnage and sending people screaming and running for their lives. A manhunt was underway Tuesday night for one of the suspected attackers, who was spotted on surveillance video at the airport wearing a white coat. Belgian authorities said that during a raid in the Brussels neighborhood of Schaerbeek, police found an "explosive device containing nails," "chemical products" and "an ISIS flag." Two devices exploded at the airport and a third, which did not explode, was found in a suitcase, leading authorities to believe the other bombs were hidden inside suitcas...

Obama in Cuba : Come to Listen to Its People

President Obama landed in Cuba on Sunday, pledging to interact directly with the Cuban people. He purposed to accelerate engagement between the United States and Cuba after more than a half-century of hostility. President Obama and his family arriving at Havana’s international airport. He is the first sitting American president to visit in nearly nine decades, and Cubans of all political persuasions had eagerly awaited his arrival. But hours before Air Force One landed at José Martí International Airport, the challenges inherent in normalizing relations with a Communist police state were laid bare, as dozens of arrests were made at the weekly march of Ladies in White, a prominent dissident group. The protest, which takes place most Sundays outside a suburban church here, was widely seen as a test of Cuba’s tolerance for dissent during the presidential trip, and the arrests confirmed that Cuba was maintaining its long history o...

Smaller iPhone is Expected on Monday to Raise the Phone Sales

As the reverse of a decline in worldwide sales, Apple is expected to launch a smaller, cheaper iPhone on Monday aimed at emerging markets and possibly China, the world's biggest buyer of smartphones. The launch of such a phone - expected to be called the iPhone SE - would represent Apple's second bid for the crowded mid-tier market after an unsuccessful foray three years ago. It might give the world's best-known technology company a boost in the fast-growing Indian, Middle East and African markets, but also risks cutting its average phone prices and profit margins. "The iPhone SE provides a new incentive to upgrade for iPhone holdouts who don't want a large-screen phone," said analyst Bob O'Donnell of TECHnalysis Research. A less expensive iPhone could appeal to emerging markets customers, said O'Donnell, but is not a sure-fire hit, as it may still be pricier than competitors running Google's Android system, and many in emerging ...

Captured Paris Attack Suspect As A 'Worth Weight in Gold' to Police

The only suspected participant in Paris attacks, the one who to be captured alive, has been cooperating with police investigators and is "worth his weight in gold", his lawyer said on Monday. An ambulance believed to be carrying Salah Abdeslam, the most-wanted fugitive from November's Paris attacks arrested yesterday, leaves the federal judicial police headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, March 19, 2016. (Reuters/Eric Vidal) Belgium's Interior Minister Jan Jambon said the country was on high alert for a possible revenge attack following the capture of 26-year-old Salah Abdeslam in a flat in Brussels on Friday. "We know that stopping one cell can ...push others into action. We are aware of it in this case," he told public radio. French investigator Francois Molins told a news conference in Paris on Saturday Abdes...

Donald Trump to Washington for GOP Establishment Events

Donald Trump is going to take his amped-up outsider campaign to the heart of the establishment Monday with a series of events in Washington, D.C. Amidst the public split within the GOP over his campaign, Trump will reportedly attend a meeting of Republicans — including perhaps some members of Congress — at the Jones Day law firm. That's slated to be followed by a press availability at his Trump International Hotel project. His day will wrap up with remarks at AIPAC, where his fellow Republican rivals will also take the stage. The GOP frontrunner heads to Washington with controversy and violence left in his wake. Rallies in Utah and Arizona on Friday and Saturday were plagued by protests that in some cases escalated into violent altercations. At two Arizona rallies on Saturday, in Fountain Hills and Tucson, arrests of protesters and supporters alike were made. And Trump's campaign manager, Corey Lewandowski, once again made headlines, this time for allegedly...
