Lady Gaga Bangs Super Bowl 50, Singging The National Anthem

Lady Gaga kicked off football's biggest night singing the national anthem. The singer, who was dressed in a sparkly red suit, was joined by actress Marlee Matlin, who signed the lyrics as Gaga sang.


Before the game, the 29-year-old singer told NFL.com that performing "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the Super Bowl was a "dream come true."


"I’ve always wanted to sing the National Anthem at a major sporting event since I was a little girl, and for it to be the Super Bowl, it is the ultimate," she said, adding that Whitney Houston's rendition of the national anthem at Super Bowl XXV was her all-time favorite.

"This is one of the highest honors of my career," she continued. "I get a chance to sing for all the athletes who have been working so hard their whole life for this moment.”



Gaga follows Tony winner Idina Menzel, who belted out the national anthem in 2015. Previously, Alicia Keys, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks and Carrie Underwood have each honored America by singing the song at past games

Nigerian army Claims the Second Rescue of Chibok Girl

A second schoolgirl that was seized in the Nigerian town of Chibok has been found, the army says. But a spokesman for the Chibok girls' parents has cast doubt on the claims, saying that the girl's name is not on the families' list of those missing. An army spokesman said Serah Luka was among a group of 97 women and children rescued by troops in the north-east. Islamist militant group Boko Haram has abducted thousands of other girls in recent years, rights groups estimate. This comes two days after the rescue of the first Chibok girl, Amina Ali Nkeki.
