A Tourist Helicopter Crashed in Pearl Harbor Caught on Tape

A private tourist helicopter with five passengers crashed into the water near the USS Arizona Memorial in Honolulu on Thursday startling sightseers, authorities said — and it was all caught on camera.

The Genesis Aviation chopper made a hard landing into the drink around 10:30 a.m. (3:30 p.m. ET), prompting several good Samaritans to dive in and pull victims to shore.

Three victims were taken to Pali Momi Medical Center: a 16-year-old boy who was in critical condition, and a 45-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man who were listed as stable, a hospital spokesperson said.

The remaining two people aboard the helicopter were not believed to be critically injured, officials said.

Max Burner, from Redwood City, Calif., was one of the people who jumped into the water to help passengers when he saw the crash.

"The helicopter started sputtering at around 500 feet and the pilot did, what I would say, was an amazing job, as it was sputtering and coming down, he put it right off the shore where everyone was," Burner said. "I started running the opposite way toward the water."
