Maute militant which is allegiance with ISIS is still taken over 1500 buildings in Marawi, in the southern Philippines, Monday (3/7).
On the other hand, the Philippine military continued fighting the Maute militant who has blasted Marawi since May 23, although security forces keep the air strikes.
The President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte vowed to destroy the rebel last month. However, the security forces continued to pass the deadline to overcome the conflict that has killed more than 350 people and made more than 400 thousands people lose their homes.
Maute fighters in Marawi is led by Isnilon Hapilon, the most wanted fugitives in the Philippines, which is also the cause of the conflict outbreak in Marawi. Hapilon is suspected still alive and hides in a mosque, confirmed the Defense Minister of the Philippines Delfin Lorenzana in a press conference in Manila.
Lorenzana also mentions that the militants occupied the building, including the 1500 houses, who then planted plenty of explosives.
"There was a battle in the city and our military was not ready. They fight while still learning to overcome a clash within the city, "said Lorenzana, quoted in AFP Monday (3/7).
That slowed down the military movement in Marawi. Security forces has just taken some buildings which were controlled by ISIS. On Saturday, the military had seized 40 buildings and another 57 on Sunday.
"The operation was very difficult, as artificial explosive traps and landmines were planted by terrorists in the buildings," said the military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Jo-ar Herrera.
He added, the clashes for the past seven weeks has killed 82 soldiers and polices, as well as 39 civilians.
There are still 100 militants who fought in Marawi. Whereas, 300 people have been killed.
